Geney Geog has an area of 144 sq. km and its elevation ranges between 2023 meters to 4533 meters above sea level. There are 93 households living in the gewog. Most of the villages are scattered and far away from the feeder road making access and the provision of developmental services difficult as well as costly. A primary school, a BHU GR.II, and an ORC provide health and education services in the gewog. A feeder road provides the main access to the gewog with connections to the Thimphu-Phuentsholing Highway. The main crops grown in the gewog are paddy, wheat, barley and chilly but people also derive additional income from the sale of Matsutake mushrooms. Local cattle dominate the livestock population although some improved breed is also reared. Genye lies in the temperate region. Summers are warm with heavy rainfall in June to August, and the winters are cold.
