Kawang Gewog has 383 households. The gewog is among the more developed gewogs in the dzongkhag with most of its villages having road access, and electricity and telephone connections. The gewog has easy access to all the Thimphu city schools as well as health service facilities. Parts of the gewog already fall under the purview of the town municipality. The gewog has an area of 308 sq. km and elevation ranging from 2,320 meters to 4,769 meters above sea level. The Wang Chhu flows through the middle of the gewog.
